UKs Head for Counter Terrorism and Extremism Network visits WestMinCom 1

Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – September 8, 2022

Mr. Chris Felton, Hub Head for the United Kingdom’s Counter Terrorism and Extremism Network (CTEN) for Asia, visited the Western Mindanao Command on Wednesday morning, September 7, 2022.

Mr. Felton was received by the WestMinCom Deputy Commander for External Defense Operations, Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, at the Laong Laan Hall located at Camp Navarro, Calarian, this city. Col. Elmer Suderio, the Chief of Unified Command Staff, and the Unified Command Staff joined Brig. Gen. Rojas in welcoming the distinguished visitor.

Brig. Gen. Rojas and Mr. Felton discussed AFP policies, programs, and current initiatives on how to better understand common concerns between the Philippines and the United Kingdom. They also determined areas of cooperation where the UK government can further support the Philippine government, particularly in maritime domain awareness and maritime security.

Mr. Felton leads the CTEN for Asia based in the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As Hub Head, Mr. Felton liaises with colleagues in the UK posts in the Asia Pacific and in London to understand the risk of terrorism in the region to the UK nationals and to work with local partners to reduce the risk.
