Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – October 18, 2022
The 9th Forward Service Support Unit facilitated the demilitarization of firearms held at Camp Arturo Enrile, Malagutay, this city on October 18, 2022.
A total of 436 captured, confiscated, surrendered, and recovered (CCSR) firearms were cut and burned to ensure that no part of the firearms would be reused or recycled.
The activity was witnessed by Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Acting Commander of Western Mindanao Command; Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe; Municipal Administrator Arsina Nanoh of Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan; Col. Randolph Rojas, Commander of Joint Task Force Zamboanga; Col. Fernando Dulawan, Vice Chairperson of Disposal Committee; Police Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Director, Zamboanga City Police Office; Col Roel Velasquez, Group Commander, 2nd LSG; Lt. Col. Abdurasad Sirajan, Chief, Public Information Office, WestMinCom; Lt. Col. Bernard Samien, Commander, 4th SF Battalion; Mr Ronniel Enriquez, Auditor III of COA RO9; and other guests.
Brig. Gen. Rojas commended the officers and enlisted personnel of 9FSSU led by Lt. Col. Joey Caperig for leading the activity and for a job well done.
“The Western Mindanao Command through all of its Joint Task Forces firmly aspires for peace and progress. Our military operations against the different threat groups and our campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms, in collaboration with other local government agencies, will continue and be more vigorous,” Brig. Gen. Rojas said. “This demilitarization of firearms is an attestation of the Philippine Army’s commitment to the AFP’s mission to maintain peace and order and protect the citizens against violence and extremism.”
Demilitarization is the destruction of firearms to make them unusable by cutting them into several pieces and burning the parts to ensure that they will be totally destroyed.
