Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin, Commander of the 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, visited the Western Mindanao Command based at Camp Navarro, Calarian, this city, on October 29, 2022. He paid a courtesy call to the unit's acting commander, Brig. Gen. Arturo G Rojas. Mrs. Anna Marie Mempin accompanied her husband, Maj. Gen. Mempin during the trip to Zamboanga City.


During their meeting, Maj. Gen. Mempin and Brig. Gen. Rojas shared their experiences, best practices, and views on advancing their respective peace and security efforts. They also talked about the humanitarian assistance, and disaster response (HADR) extended by WestMinCom to the typhoon victims in the affected areas in Western and Central Mindanao.


Brig. Gen. Rojas said, “Our troops engaged in a different battle yesterday. Their enemy was the tropical storm “Paeng,” which brought massive destruction to our area of operation. I commend our soldiers for the immediate assistance extended to the typhoon victims.”


Maj. Gen. Mempin stated that it is advantageous that soldiers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to conduct HADR.


Both generals are proud members of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990. Before his current designation, Maj. Gen. Mempin was the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations. He also served as the 10ID Assistant Division Commander from June to October 2021.


The 10th Infantry “Agila” Division is based in Camp General Manuel T. Yan, Sr., Barangay Tuboran, Mawab, Davao de Oro.
