Joint Task Force Tawi Tawi facilitates transport of returning Filipinos

The Western Mindanao Command’s Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi/2nd Marine Brigade provided humanitarian assistance to returning Filipinos from Sabah on September 13, 2022. The REFs were ferried from Zamboanga City to Tawi-Tawi via a commercial vessel. 
Marine troops of JTF Tawi-Tawi, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Romeo Racadio, in collaboration with the 993rd Marine Company (Reserve), Provincial Local Government Unit of Tawi-Tawi, Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), and other agencies, facilitated the safe transport of 355 returning Filipinos from Tawi-Tawi port to the isolation facility located in Barangay Tubig-boh, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. In compliance with the minimum health protocols, the returning Filipinos will have to undergo Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security (CIQS) process prior to their return to their respective residences. The REFs were placed under the supervision of MSSD Tawi-Tawi and were given cash and food assistance while waiting for their clearance to go back to their respective families.

Brig. Gen. Racadio said that this endeavor is one of JTF Tawi-Tawi’s lines of operation to promote good governance and socio-economic development as the unit continues to extend support to the LGU through humanitarian assistance.

Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command said that the armed forces are always ready to assist other sectors of society, especially during crises.
