Maguindanao division plebiscite generally peaceful WestminCom Chief

Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of the Western Mindanao Command said that the conduct of the plebiscite to support the division of Maguindanao into two separate provinces was generally peaceful. 
 
WestMinCom’s Joint Task Force Central deployed a total of 128 officers and 2,997 enlisted personnel to the 36 municipalities of Maguindanao to secure the polling precincts and prevent the occurrence of any untoward incident. JTF Central also activated plebiscite monitoring centers at 6ID headquarters, at the brigades and battalions, and Buluan Provincial Capitol. 
 
Lt. Gen. Rosario, Jr. proudly said that no plebiscite-related violent incidents were reported during the historic event. “The peaceful and orderly conduct of the plebiscite is ascribed to the shared commitment and active involvement of all participating agencies that ensured the success of the historic event.”
 
The Maguindanao Plebiscite 2022 has a voter turnout of 86.93% of the 818,790 regular registered voters of the province. Based on the official final tally, 99.26% agreed to divide the province into two separate provinces, while, 0.73% voted ‘No’.

Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Roy Galido attended the proclamation of Maguindanao Plebiscite Results at the Provincial Hall of Buluan Sunday afternoon, September 18. Present during the proclamation was the elected officials of Maguindanao headed by Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu.  COMELEC Spokesman Rex Laudianco announced the results in the presence of other COMELEC personalities headed by Chairman George Garcia.
