Military troops seized high-powered firearms and war materials of the armed lawless group (ALG) in Central Mindanao on September 26, 2022.
In a focused military operation, troops of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, engaged in an armed confrontation with more or less 10 ALG members at Sitio Damakayo, Lomabao, General Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao, at 7:30 a.m. Monday. At the same time, a dismount team of the battalion also encountered more or less five ALG members at Purok Pinagando, Baumol, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.
Artillery and mortar fires from the rangers and reinforcing units were also delivered on the withdrawal routes of the enemies.
While clearing the encounter site, operating troops recovered one M79 grenade launcher, one M16A1 rifle, two fired cartridges of 40mm High Explosives, two bandoliers, one upper garment of PNP uniform, two pairs of combat boots, one commercial radio, one short magazine for M16 rifle, empty shells of the following ammunition: 104 rounds of 5.56mm ball, 37 rounds of 7.62mm ball, six rounds of cal. 30, five rounds of cal. 50, and six rounds of 7.62mm ball.
Maj. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of Joint Task Force Central, said, “Troops continue to employ more pressure on the enemies. We are focused on disarming these lawless elements either peacefully or forcefully.”
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command, said that military troops continue to intensify combat and non-combat operations to sustain the momentum and disallow the emergence of armed lawless groups in the area.
