Lawless element nabbed firearms seized in joint AFP PNP operation
Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – October 20, 2022
Joint elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police nabbed a lawless element in Marawi City on October 18, 2022.
Based on the report from the ground, troops of the 55th Engineer Brigade and the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Lanao del Sur Provincial Field Unit, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 403rd Mobile Force Company, and Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office conducted joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Bangco, Marawi City which resulted in the apprehension of Majid Dipatuan y Munte, male, married, 35 years old, a resident of the aforesaid barangay. He was arrested by virtue of a search warrant for the violation of RA 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

According to Brig. Gen. Irineo Sebastian, Commander of the 55th Engineer Brigade, the 2nd Combat Engineer Company of the 500th Combat Engineer Battalion is the military unit closest to the target’s location, thus, as the “Mabagsik” team of army engineers, it was their duty to provide troop augmentation to ensure operational success during the conduct of the law enforcement operation. 
Seized from Dipatuan’s possession were one Caliber .380 pistol with magazine and four rounds of ammunition, one Colt Shotgun with four rounds of ammunition, and four magazines for M16 with 43 rounds of ammunition. 
Apprehended personality and the confiscated items were brought to CIDG LDS PFU for safekeeping and proper disposition.

“It is ensured that all the Joint Task Forces and field units attune their efforts in upholding the national government’s campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms. Violators who refuse to turn over their undocumented firearms or involve themselves in gun running shall be dealt with accordingly. Rest assured that we will continue to support our partner agencies in enforcing the law in our area of operation,” Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Acting Commander of Western Mindanao Command stated.
