Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – October 24, 2022


The Western Mindanao Command welcomed the AFP Cybersecurity Audit Team in Zamboanga City on October 24, 2022. The audit team will conduct validity assessment and penetration testing (VAPT) to ensure WestMinCom’s adherence to the implemented cyber risk assessment policies and to evaluate the level of the command’s cybersecurity posture.


The audit team paid a courtesy call to Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Acting Commander of WestMinCom. Brig. Gen. Rojas received the visitors at his office located at the WestMinCom Headquarters at Camp Navarro, Calarian, this city. A briefing was then spearheaded by the audit team led by Lieutenant Commander Eugene Dacpano. Present during the briefing were the staff officers of the command, led by Col. Yasser Bara, the Acting Chief of Unified Command Staff.


During the briefing, Lt. Col. Josemari Sardeng, the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Communications, Electronics, and Information Systems, presented a report on the existing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Network System of the command.

In his message read by Col. Bara, Brig. Gen. Rojas said, “This effort of the cybersecurity group is a welcome undertaking by team WestMinCom as this is designated at securing our cybersecurity posture aiming for a successful accomplishment of our mission. We at WestMinCom are committed to the development of policies and guidelines to increase cybersecurity and reduce the risk of attacks through the cyber domain.”


“With this, I bid everyone to continue to embark on a responsible cybersecurity action to protect our personal information; our equipment; and the command’s ICT network system, as a whole.
