A Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness was facilitated by the Western Mindanao Command’s Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Personnel led by Col. Rey Pasco, on November 17, 2022. This Gender and Development activity was held at the WMC Conference Room at Camp Navarro, Calarian, this city and was participated by 43 organic enlisted personnel and civilian human resources of the command.
The activity was conducted in connection with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last month. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.
Prostate Cancer Awareness was also included in the topics discussed since WestMinCom is an organization where the workforce is dominated by male soldiers and civilian human resources. Awareness of the disease must be increased as it is one of the deadliest diseases among Filipino males.
The success of the activity was made possible through the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Loise Lin-Marie Bahjin and Cpt. Eduardo Añonuevo of the Health Service Command.
“The physical, mental, and spiritual health conditions of our personnel are among our foremost concerns. We also make sure that our soldiers and civilian human resources are in the best of health. Awareness campaigns such as this one are important because it concerns the morale and welfare of every personnel,” WestMinCom Acting Commander, Marine Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas said.
